Skyping with New York Times Best Seller

I started out having a hard time getting going this morning.  We were up late last night watching the election and then talking.  After that I stayed up even longer reading, and I have a good excuse for it.  Right now I’m rereading Those Who Save Us by Jenna Blum. I absolutely loved this novel the first time I read it a few years ago, and I’m loving it all over again while currently rereading it. If you have not read this moving story, please pick it up to read today!

I’m rereading this wonderful novel, because I’m going to be Skyping with the author, New York Times Best Seller Jenna Blum on Monday!!!!  I’ve been beyond excited about this since I set it up with Blum a few months back.  I’m not someone who really cares about celebrities you see on television and in the movies; however, authors are a whole different story.  Every time I received a reply email from the wonderful Ms. Blum I did a little happy dance (Did I mention that she is the sweetest person too?).  Basically, I turn into one of those star struck individuals who jump up and down and start clapping.  I swear I could talk to any author for hours.  How they come up with their stories just amazes me.

If you have read this story let me know if you have any good questions for Ms. Blum, and I’ll ask her for ya!

On to my morning…

Here is what I had for breakfast.  My hubby made us scrambled eggs and pancakes.  I let my son and husband eat the pancakes while I opted for healthier left over maple steel cut oats (I added a scoop of protein powder to the oats this morning to get even more protein in my breakfast).  It all tasted so good and gave me a ton of energy for my Best Body Bootcamp workout!

I have been loving Tina’s workouts she has created for us this week, and today’s was awesome!!!  It really kicked my butt!  After Tina’s workout, I hoped on a treadmill and did the interval you see below.  This interval is more of a speed interval that has one small hill in it.  Hope y’all have a great workout today!

A Speedy 20 Minute Treadmill Interval and Halloween Preparations

How is it already pretty much the end of October?  Where in the world did summer go?  Heck, I think I totally missed fall somewhere in there!  Today I just realized that Halloween is next week, and we don’t even have anything set up for trick-or-treaters!  I’m seriously lacking on my Halloween “pimpin’.”

I’m really going to have to get my butt in gear this weekend in order to have everything together that I want to do and bake/cook for Halloween.  I haven’t even bought pumpkins to carve yet!!  What kind of mother am I?  Plus, I found a ton of great stuff on Pinterest and I’m determined to do each and every one of them.

The main new project I’m looking forward to doing for Halloween (baring a blizzard…they do happen here this time of year) is making the “floating glow balls”.  All you do is fill a large balloon with water and a glow stick.  You then place the balloon in a nylon stocking and hang it from a tree.  How cool is that!?!  The trees that line our front yard are perfect for this!

In the mean time I continue with my daily workouts and goals.  I’ve been really good about sticking to my goals.  This morning my husband made scrambled eggs, and I reheated some of the left over overnight pumpkin pie steel cut oats to go with it.  I’m going to need all the energy I can get from this breakfast, because I’m subbing gym class at my son’s elementary school today.

This evening I’m lifting weights with the Best Body Bootcamp program and doing a quick 20 minute treadmill interval workout (seen below) that I came up with.  If you are looking for a good full body workout try the Freakishly Good Workout today.  It will really tone and tighten those muscles!

20 Minute Treadmill Workout and a Great Discovery

I have discovered something truly wonderful!  It is sweet and creamy and becoming a new addiction.  My new wonderful discovery is…drum roll please…Biscoff Spread! If you love peanut butter and cannot live without Nutella, then Biscoff Spread will have you in heaven in no time flat. This sweet spread is made from those wonderful cookies they used to give you on all your flights.

I came across this wonderful spread when looking for apple oatmeal recipes. A woman was adding this spread to her oatmeal in the morning. Well, I didn’t know these wonderful cookies were turned into a spread, so I went to Amazon and ordered myself some.  If you live in bigger cities and towns you will be able to find this at your local grocery store and Walmart.

Now, I have a wonderful friend who loves the Biscoff cookies you get on your flights, so I waited to open the jar and sample the goodness until she was able to come over and try it with me. Well, it was all we could do not to dive into that jar like a couple of pigs with our spoons. She immediately ordered some for herself too! As for me, well, we are on our second jar.

I’ve been racking my brains with ways to bake with this spread, and I’ve come up with two of my own recipes.  Pumpkin Spice Muddie Buddies and Biscoff Apple Streusel Muffins.  I’ll be making the Muddie Buddies today after the gym, so keep an eye out for the recipe!

On to the workout for today!

Today is another cold dreary day, and I hate days like this.  They make you feel so unmotivated to do anything.  Thankfully I’m teaching cycling at the gym today, so there will be no slacking off for me today.  I’m only teaching a 30 Minute Cycle Express class today, so I’m going to want to do a bit more cardio afterwards, so I’ll head upstairs to the treadmills and do a 20 Minute Treadmill Workout.  This workout is designed to kick those butt muscles in gear and get rid of that pesky fat back there tooSmile.  You will stay at a consistent fast walking pace the whole time while climbing some hills.  The time will fly by on this one.  Trust me.
