Arg!!! What Was I Thinking!?!

Ever have one of those days where you start feeling “blah” or just generally unmotivated (otherwise known as a funk)?  This doesn’t happen to me often; however, this is what happened to me starting yesterday afternoon.  Honestly, I don’t know where it came from.  And do you know what genius thing I did since I was feeling “blah?”  I decided to weigh myself!  On what planet is that ever a good idea?  Seriously, what was I thinking…Hum, I’m feeling lazy and upset about all the snow and cold weather, maybe I should go weigh myself?  What kind of outcome did I expect that to have?  Apparently I was out to really take myself out yesterday, because that wonderful scale showed that I gained 3 pounds.  Maybe eating 3 cannoli’s, beer bread, coffee cake, cheese, and other treats on Monday night (Skype session with best selling author Jenna Blum) was not the best idea.  Okay, I ate a cannoli yesterday and today too!  I really need someone to grab me and tell me to “Snap out of it!” (insert Italian/Brooklyn accent).

I (of all people) know better than to get on a scale.  I’m always telling my students and clients to toss the scale or hide it at a friends house.  It is never about the weight, it is about the size change (see picture below).  Plus there is water weight and new muscle mass to consider.  So, of course as soon as I got off the scale I ran to put my jeans on to see if they could still button. Thankfully they were buttonable.  Then, it was time to put the scale out in the shed.  I’m hoping the subzero freezing temps will kill the darn thing!

I have been working out quite a bit and loving it.  Plus I have been seeing great results from Tina’s Best Body Bootcamp and the extra time I put in at the gym working out and teaching, so I know that 3 pounds cannot all be fat.  The extra goals Tina has us set for ourselves are making a huge difference for me too.

One of my goals this week is to stretch or do yoga for 20 minutes (this was a goal for last week too).  This has been a tough goal for me to accomplish.  Heaven forbid I take 20 minutes to relax and take care of my muscles once a day.  It is Pathetic (note the capital P) that I have to literally force myself to do this, and then I whine and moan while I’m doing it.  All I can think about is all the other stuff I need to be doing instead of stretching.  Thankfully I have a very motivating son who gets me to do my nightly stretching.  He pulls out my yoga mat for me and asks me, “Do you want to fall apart or be healthy?”  Bless his little heart.

Well, today is a new day and I’m heading to the gym.  I have my 60 minute Spinning class to teach, and then I’m working out with the amazing Rita after!  I also pulled out an old elliptical workout to do before my class, which I have posted below for you!
